The Canal RCN is the second most watched national channel in Colombia and one of the two private national channels that exists in Colombia. It began broadcasting in 1998.

According to the National Media Survey, it occupies 59.62 % of the attention of all the viewers of the country. Its programming is quite diverse, however, its greater strip content aims to TV news programs, reality TV shows, entertainments, and sporting events. During the weekends, they offer a children’s strip. Likewise, it characterizes for broadcasting different cultural and general entertainment events, such as beauty contests, soccer world cups, global award ceremonies, among others.

 

It is operated by RCN Televisión S.A., a company owned by Grupo Empresarial Carlos Ardila Lülle through the Radio Cadena Nacional S.A.

 

For 1997, it signed a concession contract with the National Television Commission (today National Television Authority), through which RCN Televisión S.A. obtained the license for the operation and use of the Private Operation channel, with an initial duration of 10 years. In 2009, the Canal extension was signed for a period of ten years counted from January 11, 2009.
