The EL HERALDO Publishing House (Casa Editorial EL HERALDO) is a media group (media: AL DIA, El Heraldo and others) that refers to itself as the leader of information in the Caribbean region. It was founded in Barranquilla in 1933 by the journalist Juan B. Fernández Ortega and the lawyers Alberto Pumarejo and Luis Eduardo Manotas.
It is linked to the Liberal Party, which it states also on its website.
It owns several newspapers including El Heraldo--covering the Colombian Caribbean coast and with the informative portal (www.elheraldo.co) which has 3,256,740 monthly visits--and AL DÍA, which has editions in Barranquilla, Cartagena, Santa Marta and Riohacha and is the most widely read popular newspaper on Colombia’s Caribbean Coast. It also has magazines such as Miércoles (featuring current affairs, beauty, and fashion) and the magazines Sí, Gente Caribe and Dominical.
The group also owns several journalism schools, the most well known being the Olga Emiliani School.
