Publimetro Colombia SA

A chilean company from which Metro Internacional operates and covers Latin America. Publimetro was founded in 1996 and is the largest free newspaper chain in the world, with 77 daily editions distributed in 13 languages across 124 cities in 22 countries across America, Europe, and Asia. The publishing company that created and owns Publimetro is Swedish, based in Stockholm. Its newspapers have a combined circulation of more than 8,000,000 copies and some 17,000,000 readers.
Colombia Publimetro is located in Bogotá. It began in 2011 through an alliance between Metro Internacional (51%) and the Grupo Nacional de Medios (49%), which created the company Publimetro Colombia S.A.S.
In March 2015, Metro Internacional purchased 100% of shares from the Grupo Nacional de Medios. In the same month, Sergio Quijano Llano was appointed as president of Publimetro Colombia seeking to strengthen the media’s digital component. In October 2015, the newspaper expanded its distribution coverage to the cities of Cali, Medellín, and Barranquilla. It is emerging as a strong competitor to the free DNA newspaper, and of the popular newspapers Q'hubo and Al Día.
