It is the website of the newspaper El Tiempo –the country’s most widely read newspaper-. The site manages opinion contents and varied national and international news, maintaining the editorial line of the printed newspaper.
In 1911 the El Tiempo was founded after the creation of the website in 1995.
In April 2012, Grupo Aval acquired the 88.37% of stockholding after it bought 55% shares of Grupo Planeta. In May, Grupo Aval consolidates the 100% ownership of the El Tiempo Publishing House. Now the outlet is owned by the richest man of the country. The website of El Tiempo is the most visited media site in Colombia.
Throughout 2014, El Tiempo.com ranked among the top 15 most visited media in Colombia, according to Alexa. In the MOM ranking, El Tiempo.com also ranks in the first position based on audience size.
